Goodbye E.

A man of great honor, integrity and courage left this Earth this afternoon.  While his family and friends will all miss him immensely, I think I can speak for all of us when I say we are all relieved that he is now pain-free and enjoying a beer with his fishing pole in hand.

As per E.'s wishes, there will be no formal services.  We will be gathering at our home for an informal open house on Saturday, December 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Please join us for food and drinks, and to share memories and stories of this man we all loved so much.

  5. I am sorry for your loss yet relieved Earl's pain, suffering and struggle has come to an end. I haven't kept up with Earl since High School yet have followed the blog and had some information from Coleen.
Words can't express my sympathy for you or my admiration for the courage and strength Earl had through the past few years. While in school we may have been self centered, ornery kids as most are, Earl grew into an incredible man with a strength that most of us can only aspire to.

  7. Sandy/Family~

Wishing you and your family much Love, Peace, and condolences for your loss. Earl was a great man, and I know he will continue to be a part of your lives as a Guardian Angel, which no doubt, he will assume the role without hesitancy. You have a wonderful family, which I was honored to meet a portion thereof on Sunday evening.

I admire your spirt, your courage, and great personal strength during the time you and your family have battled this horrible disease. I know that you have served as an inspiration to many many people; and have heard from my co-workers here at J/E many a times, how incredibly strong, and eloquent you have been in journaling your experiences through your blog so that we could follow and be up to speed with E's situation. You have many who admire and support you, as well as care for you as part of the J/E extended family.

May you and your family continue to be blessed with a myriad of love and support, as well as find peace in the remembrance of E and all the memorable moments you and your family have shared with one another for these are truly treasured times, indeed. I hope you will also take heart in knowing that what you have done for your family is a testament for your love for one another and the sanctity of your love, loyalty, and relationship with E. This is a legacy that will live on through each one of the kids, and the many lives you've all touched directly and indirectly through your blog.

    My sincerest condolences,

    Kim I.

  8. I have known Earl since the 6th grade and he was a great person then, so growing up to be the man he became was no surprise. This world will surely miss him. My prayers are with you and your children and the families always.

  9. Earl was a wonderful man. Always so very kind and a damn good cook too. I very much miss spending time with Sandy, Earl, and all of the boys. You guys fought like nobody's business to beat this thing and I think you taught all of your kids a very valuable lesson in strength and faith and to never give up.

    Sandy,
I think the world of you. You are one of the strongest people that I know. You have been through bigger heartbreaks than I could ever imagine and yet you stay strong for your kids and you are truly an inspiration for us all. You are so very amazing for everything that you did for Earl, so please don't think it was for nothing. You live an on-purpose life to support and to love with all your might and nobody does it better than you. I am so very sorry for your loss, but I do believe that there is a reason for all things, even the bad, to happen even though they may never be obvious to us.

To all of the kids (11), you all know that you were loved by a wonderful man with the kindest of hearts. I am very sorry that you lost him but please know that he is happy and out of pain. Cherish the memories that you have and live your lives to its fullest extent because that is what Earl would want. Please be strong and help your mom be strong and love and respect her for the amazing soul that she is. You have just witnessed one of the most courageous fights that lasted almost 4 years. You witnessed the most amazing courage, commitment, and love and you were a part of that.

I say good bye to you Earl. I will miss you. Sorry I wasn't around more.

    I love you all,
    Love Robyn, Skylar, & Jayde
